    As for Simmonds I want them to trade him for the best deal they can get. Be it player(s), picks or both. No reason they can't trade him as a rental and then try to resign him as a free agent if they want him back.

    This. Just because he is traded for a pick, doesn't mean Fletcher has to actually make that pick. It can be further packaged for a better player. Ideally I'd like to see whatever is obtained from a Simmonds trade to end up as someone who can make a difference at the NHL level next season.
