Thread: Flyers Sign Christian Folin (D) ($800K/1 year)

Unless it is a two way deal or Gudas is getting traded, I don't see the point in this deal. He sounds just like Gudas ... moderately physical RH D-man with limitations. But now it means you have 6 d-men on the NHL roster not including Sanheim and Myers. I can just see it now, Sanheim and Myers both play extremely well in the preseason, the regular season rolls around and they sit in the press box and then one of them is sent down to the AHL because "we want them playing instead of sitting in the pressbox".

Sounds like a solid 7th D who this coach will enjoy overusing. Myers is a phantom. Yay.

    Most likely the case snapdad

I can see it already...Folin is a "big body out there who brings structure"

"It's all part of the learning curve for Phil...he's taken a step back these last few games and we think he can learn a lot from sitting out" after making one bad turnover. Meanwhile Gludas keeps playing "well"

Looks like his Cap hit is 650K.

Cap hit is peanuts. Worth the risk. If myers plays his way on the team in camp just bury folin in minors. Phantoms are gonna be young this year. Older dman would be helpful.

Where did you see that? Capfriendly has that figure but says it is unconfirmed.

He got $850 in LA for one year. I can't get to a site with the salary for 2018-19

    He's listed at 6'3 and 205lbs, also doesn't get a lot of PIM's.

Per Dave Isaac, the cap hit is $800k.
