Nobody looked at that roster when it was put together and said the expansion rules were way too generous and that team will be a Cup contender. They were a consensus pick for last place and had the longest odds to win the Stanley Cup of any team in the league.

Gallant has done a brilliant job coaching and those players deserve credit for buying into the idea that they will simply skate harder, backcheck faster, win more puck battles than the other team due to consistently giving a better effort form the top to the bottom of their lineup on a night in night out basis.

The Flyers would easily be winning the cup if their entire team gave 90% as much effort as the average Golden Knight.
don't you dare let JSP see this. according to him the entire thing was rigged so they'd win the cup. trades, protected player trades, laughable.

they essentially picked the best 3rd liner off of each team, made a trade or two along the way, and boom.

reaves? who wants that bum!!! boy how much better would he have looked than a clown like scott laughton or dale weise. simply laughable. their effort this season has made the flyers look like a 85 year old man running a marathon. ie, embarrassing.

Hell of a game last night

Sure was. That paddle save was ridiculous. How it didn't go in is super natural. There was so much flex on his stick it had to have some velocity behind it.

They picked up a world class goalie, too. A battle tested multiple cup winning one.

That in and of itself made them a playoff team out of the gate. Put Fleury on the Flyers in the playoffs and they beat Pittsburgh easily.

Oh and the perfect coach for that team literally fell into their laps.

Their GM did a hell of a job though no denying that.

5 on 5 Vegas is solid, Caps are using matching minors to open the ice up because they have the edge in talent.
Imagine that, if the Flyers did that it would be "brawling" or "mugging" their way to a cup.

Wilson and a couple other Caps are getting away with hits Flyers would be suspended for. Wilson blindsided a guy in game one and was only given 2 minutes for interference - maybe the warning should go out, it doesn't matter if you have the puck or not, Don't turn your back on the Caps.

So if anyone has the ice tilted by the league in their favor, it's the Caps.
I will be honest with you. It troubles me that the American people seem to want to know so little about issues that they are satisfied with 128 characters." R Tillerson

Vegas is chock full of rat bastard cheap shotting shitheads. Neal I knew, the others not so much.

btw. Caps sucked all season 4 on 4, so getting that isn’t really the opportunity it might seem. IIRC, they got their first goal of the season that way in the first round.

Seriously, why can't it be both things? GM/coach/players have done a hell of a job. The Vegas franchise had advantages going into inaugural draft/season that previous expansion franchises didn't have.

I find both true, and can exist in the same world. This can also happen without either statement being an excuse/indictment of Hextall thus far.

Says the guy who is fan of a team with Tom Wilson and Brooks Orpik on it. Not saying you're wrong but seriously.
