Carchidi thinks Neuvirth is on the block

Not really a surprise but that's what I read this morning.

Also said Hextall will be lucky to find a taker. But Neuvirth does seem like the odd man out. Next season they role with Elliot and probably Lyon. Neuvirth and Mrazek can battle for a job in the ECHL.

Neuvirth and especially Mrazek can both go back to Europe.

I've said it before, but I think Hextall soured on Neuvirth's unreliability long ago. My guess is they'll buy him out, barring the unlikely event some team is willing to trade for an unreliable backup having surgery on both hips this summer.

Anyone can be on the block but you cant make teams want him, and trust me not 1 team wants Neuvirth even for free, and it's not because he isn't good enough.

Neuvirth has one year left on his deal. There is no reason to buy him out and prolong the cap hit unless you need some of the money to sign someone big, which the Flyers don't because they actually have cap space. Let him rot in the minors or go back to Europe.

With Hart and Lyon there there's no room...maybe they are looking to deal Nuevirth so they can keep Stolarz and Hart down there and have Lyon back up Elliot....

Then just waive him and eat the salary cap hit. There is no reason to prolong the cap hit across a second season.

before you go that route it makes sense to try and find someone that may be interested in him...I doubt they'll find a suitor but it's worth a shot.
