116 Last year compared to 107 this year.

Gave up 120 last year as opposed to 114 this year.

at the 42 game point the Flyers have equaled last years goal total 123 to 123 (avg of 2.98 G/G). Right about this time last year the team really struggled to score averaging 2.4 G/G from here on out.

I remembered a prolonged scoring struggle last season but was unsure of the dates.

    basically from the 42 game point to game 61 (20 games) they averaged 1.75 G/G with 1, 1, 5, 3, 0, 1, 3, 2, 2, 1, 3, 0, 0, 1, 2, 1, 3, 3, 1 and 2. Only 6 games over that 20 game stretch with 3 goals or more.

Let's hope they dont do that again.

goals for thru 59 games in 2018 is 175 (2.97/g) vs. 154 (2.61/g) in 2017..In 2017 they finished at 2.59 GF/G which was 21st in the league....their 2.96 puts them at 11th in the league, a 10 team jump from last year.

they are also the only team in the league with 10 players to score 10 or more goals.

They definitely shocked me and proved me wrong. Giroux and Voracek having Hart Trophy type years and Couturier taking it about 7 levels higher than he had previously in his career is certainly a huge help.

I know the Cup is what we want and anything short would be a failure but would love to see Giroux go on a tear the rest of the season and win a hart trophy.

Anyway ... From my observations Patrick has great passing / vision and great hands. I wouldn't say elite but they are up there. I think he has a good shot as well. His skating, at this point, does not look great. He seems to cover distances reasonably well but his stride looks really strange to me, almost like he isn't bending his knees and extending his stride enough. That could be tied to the hernia. Don't know. Anyway, hopefully the skating improves. If it does I think he can be a really good NHLer.

On Konecny I think he is getting ruined by the coaching staff. I think there is a lot of hesitation in his game like he is thinking it instead of playing it. That's never good for a young player, IMO. Hakstol was supposed to be good with young players but I'm not seeing it. There is only 1 young player that has played well under his watch and that is Provorov and I think that is more due to Provorov than Halstol.
Man, how things change. Next time they are playing like shit I should make another one of these posts.
