Yes, Lombardi has made a ton of mistakes in the last few years. Why does everyone assume he won't learn from them?

IIRC Lombardi built a pretty damn good team in San Jose, too.

Well, let's see what happens. He's not on the payroll yet.

I see no downside to bringing Lombardi on board. He'd be a sounding board for Hextall and will be gone again the first time he's offered better by another organization. Someone here also said that Hextall and Holmgren don't see eye to eye - and if that's true, a like-minded GM will help Hextall. Lombardi also knows how to build a winner. He's done it in SJ and LA. He's just shown in both places he waits too long before breaking it up. I'll worry about that problem 10 years from now.

I find it hilarious that people who will not give Hextall 5-6 years to build a team are creaming over Lombardi who has no cups in SJ after 11 years as a GM and then had another 11 in LA with 2 Cups...to put it in perspective Lombardi won his first cup in his 17th year as a GM.

Did it take Lombardi 11 years in LA or nah?

Took Lombardi 6 years in LA to win his first cup; which was 17 years into his GM'ing career.
