A lot of people have been saying this draft sucks, but this is why it's imperative, at this point, we hope the team continues to go into the crapper.....
People have forgotten the draft lottery is different in 2017 than it had been previously and this is how.....
- The top 3 teams, will be lottery selected
- Vegas will get no lower than the 6th overall pick
So as of 3/19/17:
COL 17.9% at 1st - 48% chance at top 3
ARI 12.1% at 1st - 35.3% chance at top 3
VEG 10.3% at 1st - 30.7% chance at top 3
NJ 10.3% at 1st - 30.7% chance at top 3
VAN 8.5% at 1st - 26.0% chance at top 3
DAL 7.6% at 1st - 23.5% chance at top 3
DET 6.7% at 1st - 20.9% chance at top 3
WPG 5.8% at 1st - 18.3% chance at top 3
BUF 5.4% at 1st - 17.1% chance at top 3
PHI 4.5% at 1st - 14.4% chance at top 3
As teams get pulled for a top 3 pick, it will change those odds. In the recent past, this isn't how the lottery has been handled, so if you were where the Flyers were and you didn't get 1st, you didn't have any chance of getting the 2nd or 3rd overall picks. Essentially, if this team continues to drop and you end up where say, Detroit is, which is a stretch, but not impossible, you're talking about a 20.9% chance at a top 3 pick, with, most likely the 7th overall pick.
Everyone continues to say this draft is average to poor, but frankly, if I'm going to have to pick the best of an average lot, I want to pick first, not 10th, 15th or whatever. There are good players to be had in this draft, regardless of what anyone has heard.
