Screw the knee bend.....he needs to learn to skate and keep his legs moving. If he did that he wouldn't be half as bad. It's either laziness or just pure poor skating. Either way, fixable.

Trading a d prospect is dumb, especially one that they have developed for years. They drafted D and Goalie because thats how you build a winner. If you want to trade Giroux, Voracek or even Simmonds (NO!) for younger offensive talent, then great but trading the D prospects is dumb IMO.

I know many will disagree but, you stay the course. Chances are youll have at the most, Provorov and one other hit as very good players. Why would you risk trading away the other one that makes it big....

Because some fans are impatient and want "quick fixes" and fixate on the new "shiny toy" rather than look at the value that is being created within their system...

It reminds me a lot of the 2007 draft if Kane was subtracted. All the other good players from that draft took multiple years before they were anything at the NHL level. It's hard to get excited when it's likely three seasons or more away before any of these guys will help the Flyers.
The problem is you can't look at the current draft year as a savior for the current season. I understand what you're saying, but if you could go back to the 2007 draft and pick Voracek, Couture, McDonagh, Shattenkirk, Pacioretty, Perron, Subban, Simmonds, Benn, etc....you would pass? You might not get the guy who is going to fix your team this year, but you can get a player who comes in the same year as like Myers, Sanheim and Rubtsov in another year. My real point is just, people are saying this is a bad draft, mainly, because it's being compared with the last 2. I don't think it's that bad and I'd rather have pick 9-10 than pick 14-15, because I think there's better chance of getting one of the players I think can make a big difference in the future.
Much like Ron Hextall, I will not mortgage my future posts on rental posts.

Stockpiling picks does at least allow clubs to stock their systems, which can be used as "assets" in trades..............not that Saint Ronnie would ever move one of his drafted Children to get a legit top-6 forward, but whatever..................
How funky is your chicken? How funky is your chicken?
How loose is your goose? Our goose is totally loose.....
So c'mon all you Flyer fans.......c'mon all you Flyer fans
And shake your Caboose !! Shake your Caboose !!

I have no problem with the time it takes to draft and develop. I am for tanking. But there is a big problem with Flyers and Hextalls plan. What season exactly does Hextall plan on really competing? Doesn't look like next season as Hextall just used a huge chunk of their capspace on Filppula. Signing PEB for two years tells me their isn't even a 4th line center ready until 2019. So if Hextall doesn't plan of competing next year and possibly the year after, what the hell are the corp forwards going to look like then?

If you look at Pittsburgh, LA, and Chicago, tanking aside, they built their championship teams by bringing up a lot of kids at the same time. It wasn't adding 1 or 2 a year. By bringing up a bunch of young guys together, they all started to peak together. If Hextall only plans on going young at 1 or 2 positions a year, he will only be maintaining mediocrity because as one position is fixed, another will decline.

So if the plan is to compete in 2019 or 2020, yes lets get excited about this draft. But that will also coincide with the understanding that this team will be the same mediocre crap for the next 2-3 years that I have had to watch the last 5 seasons and could very continue after that in perpetuity under Hextalls plan.

Starting to look at some mock's and player rankings and a number of them seem to have the Flyers grabbing a Finnish winger Eeli Tolvanen...Cody Glass also seems somewhat popular. Nick Suzuki also seems to be going around their pick...

Tolvanen is 1 of 2 guys I have seen and would like the Flyers to pick. The other is Casey Mittelstadt
