Unionís Season Ends At Hands Of Dynamo
By Philly Sports Daily Staff
With a perfect pass from Brad Davis and unbreakable goalkeeping from Tally Hall, the Houston Dynamo ended the Unionís season on Thursday, with a 1-0 victory at Robertson Stadium in the second leg of the aggregate series.
The Union lost their first-ever playoff series by a combined score of 3-1.
Looking for a more offensive push, coach Peter Nowak made the questionable decision to move leading goal-scorer Sebastien Le Toux to the midfield and play strikers Danny Mwanga and Jack McInerney up front in order to overcome the one-goal deficit in the series. The move didnít pay off as Davis gave his team the lead in first-half stoppage time with a curling pass that deflected off the head of Brian Ching and in the Union goal.
The Union worked to regain the lost ground but were unable to beat Hall, particularly in the 60th minute, when Veljko Paunovic let loose a hard shot that was pegged for the far post. Hall had other plans, as he stretched to secure the ball and keep his shutout in place.
