Union Lose Mapp To Montreal In Expansion Draft
By Philly Sports Daily Staff
The Union relied heavily on midfielder Justin Mapp this season, but they will no longer have that luxury. In the MLS expansion draft, the new Montreal Impact swept him away from the Union after 44 games with Philadelphia.
Mapp, 27, started 34 games for the Union since being traded from Chicago in July of 2010. He had three goals and four assists this season. Mapp made his Union debut against the New England Revolution just four days after his signing and scored his first goal with Philadelphia on Aug. 28 against the same club. He appeared in 44 matches, notching four goals and eight assists in 2,716 minutes.
