• Union Can’t Cash In, Finish With Draw In San Jose

    They probably deserved three points, but the Union only got one in San Jose when they played the home Earthquakes to a 0-0 draw out west.

    Without Jordan Harvey (traded to Vancouver on Thursday), center back Carlos Valdés (illness), midfielder Veljko Paunović (left hip strain) and Carlos Ruiz (coach’s decision), the Union still played well enough to win. They just couldn’t convert on numerous opportunities.

    They outplayed the Earthquakes on their own turf and are due a positive road result, but they’ll gladly take the one point that puts them back on top of the table after a New York Revolution loss to D.C. United.
