Phils trade Victorino to Dodgers for two pitchers
The Phillies have traded popular centerfielder Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Dodgers for relief pitcher Josh Lindblom and minor league pitcher Ethan Martin.
Hunter Pence and Joe Blanton could be next (see story).
The deal ends a successful seven-plus season run in a Phillies uniform for Victorino, who can be a free agent at the end of the season.
Victorino, 31, is re-joining the organization he played with before coming to the Phillies in Dec. 2004. The Phillies picked Victorino in the Rule 5 draft that winter. He failed to make the big club in spring training and was offered back to the Dodgers, who declined. Victorino stayed with the Phillies, became the International League’s MVP that year, and a mainstay in the Phils’ lineup a year later.
